The United Way of Greater Rochester is a non-profit organization whose mission is to unite the good will and resources of the Greater Rochester community so that everyone can thrive.
The UWGR website was technically outdated as well as cumbersome to maintain and keep relevant. They needed a partner that could provide a solution to meet existing and future growth needs. Being a tech savvy group, the UW marketing team wanted a partner with the expertise to educate them on the tools necessary to be self-sufficient for the smaller content items yet capable of handling the bigger “heavy-lifting” development needs that may come along. In addition to the site maintenance concerns, UWGR also had Marketing goals they needed the site to reach. These specific goals included: increasing the number of page views; timely changing of news features; addressing unique audience segments with specific relevant content and having well-organized information in an easy-to-navigate site. Most importantly, the site needed to be “mobile responsive”, meaning that it would adjust to smaller screen sizes with ease and work well on all devices (phones and tablets).
The Envative design team carefully evaluated the challenges of UWGR’s existing site, their goals and objectives for the future and branding strategies to ensure the solution put in place would position them for success. Collaboration meetings were held to review competitor’s sites and other industry sites they considered impactful. From there, bi-weekly sprint meetings were held that demonstrated the team’s progress as we migrated their existing site into the new flexible solution. Sprint meetings were also used to train the Marketing staff on the nuances of the system, allowing them to ask questions and understand the administration content sections that they soon would have the ability to maintain.
UWGR was a perfect fit for Envative’s SmarterCMS solution which leverages Envative’s design and CMS expertise married with the powerful and robust Kentico CMS platform. Envative not only seamlessly transitioned UWGR’s website and achieved all of the above-mentioned goals, but the new site also supports UWGR’s mission of promoting community support and increasing donations to the organization. This is accomplished by storytelling through the use of videos, social media and events and allowing UWGR to more easily meet the needs of the Agency and the not-for-profit community as a whole.
